My name is Claire Demetri and I design and make a range of pieces from kiln-formed and fused glass in my home studio in Cornwall.
All my designs are hand-crafted individually with care and each piece is unique. The glass is cut and assembled by hand and then fired in a specialist glass kiln at temperatures of up to 800 degrees celcius. Each firing can take up to sixteen hours and some pieces may go through three different firings before the desired result is achieved.
Being able to develop and refine my techniques through experimentation and practice is both creative and compulsive! I love the versatility and scope of glass as it provides endless possibilities - my pieces range from jewellery, decorations and coasters to cakestands, platters and wall panels. Commissions form a large part of my work as glass is a perfect medium to handcraft a personalised gift for a special occasion such as a wedding, anniversary or christening.
Having trained and worked as a teacher for many years, my glass fusing hobby has now developed into my full-time business, but I really do enjoy the opportunity to share the skills and creative fun of glass fusing through my workshop programme
Please do get in touch if you would like to find out more, book a workshop or commission your own unique glass design....
My workshops are organised on a flexible basis and I can cater for individuals with 1 to 1 sessions or group sessions for 2 to 10 people. They can run on weekdays, weekends or evenings - just get in touch to arrange a convenient date.
My studio is open to visitors by appointment only.
